The Faculty of Arts and Humanities is located in the imposing structure of the Monastery of San Nicolò l’Arena – also called the Monastery of the Benedictines – which rises in the heart of the old city, amid meandering alleys laden with history. The Monastery, a former property of the City of Catania, has been home to the Faculty of Arts and Humanities since 1977.

The old cells of the monks have been renovated and turned into classrooms, the old refectory is now the Aula Magna (Great Hall), and the vaults serve as fully equipped libraries.

The Dean of the Faculty is Professor Enrico Iachello, the Associate Dean is Professor Maria Dora Spadaro.
